I am Alfonzo Williams, Chief of the Waynesboro Police Department.  I joined the department in February 2011.  Waynesboro, the Bird Dog Capital of the World, has 5800 residents whom we work to protect and serve.  It is a pleasure to serve this beautiful and historic city.  It is the mission of the Waynesboro Police Department to make this city a safer place to live, work, learn and visit.

I have 21 years of law enforcement experience, starting with the now defunct Augusta Police Department (APD), where I served for 6 years (1¹/₂ years patrol and 4¹/₂ years as a Violent Crimes Detective).  During this time, I specialized in Child Abuse, Delinquent Juveniles, and other violent crimes (rapes, murders, aggravated assaults, etc.).  I received 3 Police Officer of the Year awards from various civic organizations during my tenure with the APD.
